Andrew Sharos

Andrew is an educator, author, speaker and consultant. He has taught at West Leyden High School, winner of the College Board's AP District of the Year award and one of the first schools in the nation to adopt "1 to 1" Google chromebooks. Andrew is still a practicing educator, now entering his 17th year at Leyden High School.

He was a former finalist for the Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year Award and is a Google Certified Educator. Andrew's students achieved record AP scores with a 4.45 average and a 100% pass rate in in back to back years. The College Board has acknowledged these scores as the highest in the state of Illinois.  In 2018, Andrew was named the winner of College Board's "Distinguished Service Award," given to a forceful spokesperson for educational and societal goals.

Andrew's book, "All 4s and 5s: A Guide to Teaching and Leading Advanced Placement Programs" is the first published book written specifically for the gifted and talented community. It outlines the necessary strategies for teachers and program leaders to achieve success in AP or IB, while soulfully unpacking inspiring and impactful student stories. To date, the book has sold over 15,000 copies and debuted on the Amazon best seller’s list. Andrew’s second book, “Finding Lifelines,” focuses new teachers and their mentors. It is written in novel form and the foreward was written by best-selling new teacher author, Dr. Harry Wong. It has quickly become a best friend to new teachers of all ages and has been used in instructional coaching and mentoring programs.
